Wednesday I saw a Rufous Hummingbird at Wiley Slough
(aka headquarters unit) a short way along the dike from
the boat launch.

On the other (westerly) side, heading toward the
parking area a short way from the dike intersection,
there's an eagle nest across the field and the eagle's
head was visible, sitting in the nest. There were many
unperturbed ducks in the same field: Mallards, American
Wigeon, Northern Pintail.

It was a nice walk. This spring may be the last one to
do this. The new dikes are in place. All that remains
is to tear out the old ones where it's nice to walk.
