A little off topic: I hope I'm not breaking any list rules.

On a recent "field trip" to Half Price Books in Seattle, both Capitol
Hill and University District stores, I noticed "new" copies (without
remainder mark too) of the 2008 "Big" Peterson "Field Guide to the
Birds of North America" for only $10 (that's less than half price).

When I left there were 2 copies at Capitol Hill and 3 copies (plus a
monochrome Advanced Reader Copy) University District stores.

A very nice update to the older smaller books (which should appear in
new editions too) so if you aren't a Peterson fan take a look the
size (largest page size in a normal field guide?), the printing
quality, the updated distribution maps (with the new extra small maps
on the same page as the bird and the big maps at the back) and the
new layout all make it a useful addition for the car or home library.

These I presume are surplus books. Some are lightly beaten up
(shelfware and a little folding) others looked essential brand new.
So flip through the one you pick up.

A useful bargain for a handful of Tweeters, I think.
