Hi Tweeters,
3rd try is a charm. Had excellent looks at the Loggerhead Shrike today at English Boom on N. Camano Island. At times the shrike was perched only 20 feet from me, allowing great looks and digiscoped photos. It was seen in the vicinity of the beached boat, about a mile walk east from the parking lot. The Short-eared Owl was not observed today.
Also seen were many Bald Eagles, 10 Evening Grosbeaks, thousands of Dunlin and many waterfowl, mostly Pintail and Green-winged Teal, few Wigeon, Mallards, C. Goldeneye, Bufflehead, and Horned Grebe. A small flock of Snow Geese flew over. 4 Greater Yellowlegs on the beach with 2 Killdeer.
