No, NAMC is not a 4-letter code for a bird. If it were, maybe it would stand for the Northern Arfing Merganser-Chickadee!

Actually, though, the NAMC is the North American Migration Count. It takes place this year on Saturday, May 9, 2009.

Skagit County is one of the relatively few Washington Counties that has kept up its efforts on the NAMC, sending out teams all over the county, every year but one, since the inception of the count.

If you would like to particpate in this year's NAMC, please e-mail me off-list. There are several areas whose usual teams are on "maybe" status, and several other areas that need helpers.
