At 10:45 am today May 1st, I once again had several - maybe 4-6 - RED
CROSSBILLS feeding in the same tree in which I observed the larger
flock on April 28th.I continued my walk and passed the tree in which I
saw the Crossbills on April 22nd. Just then four of them flew in,
including one bright red male and started feeding.

For anybody wanting to take a chance to see them, here are the
directions: 32529 SW 36th Ave, Federal Way, WA ( Twin Lakes ). I am no
tree expert, but the tree is either a cedar or hemlock with lots of
small acorn sized cones, about 30 feet high. Just look for the mess of
cones on the sidewalk and street - you can't miss it!

The second location is across the street from 32325 SW 40th Place,
Federal Way. It is likely a spruce with large cucumber like light
brown cones, about 8-10 inches long.

Good Birding!
