Dear Skagit Birders and Tweeters,

Thanks to all the birders who put out the word on arriving Whimbrel, and to Dennis Paulson for the information on what they eat.

Today on the Dahlstedt Road (Butler Flats, Skagit County), there was a flock of 52 Whimbrel. That's the most I've seen here since 2006, and a relief, since last year I was not able to find a single one, despite repeated searches.

The fields on the Butler Flats look perfect for Whimbrel. They love the freshly ploughed dirt.
