Hey, Tweets-
Hope springs eternal ... or spring brings eternal hope. Checked out Mt. Townsend area (Opperman, p 222) for HERMIT WARBLER. It might be too early, but with the report of a Hermit farther south near Lake Lena now might be the time to look. We hiked from the lower trailhead off of FSR 2760 to the upper trailhead off of FSR 190 and then an additional two miles toward Camp Windy. No "wobblers" and only an AMERICAN ROBIN for avian or any animal species.
On the drive back down, we spotted a female SOOTY GROUSE along side of the road (FSR 27) about two miles down from the intersection with FSR 2760. We had been hearing barely audible hooting periodically while hiking, but didn't make the connection with Sooty Grouse until seeing this female. A new lifer for us.
