Hey tweets, with the wind howling and the rain pounding, I imagine
most of us are stuck inside today. Like winter gardeners who dream
about all the seeds they will plant when the weather gets better in
the spring, we must use our imaginations to go birding. Luckily for
us, the memories and impressions we all have of special birds burned
into our brains makes this task easy, even fun.

So I would ask you today to post a story about that one special bird
that means something to you, perhaps even years after you saw it. I,
for one, would love to share your memories on this rainy day.

As for those of you who have kindly written about my KUOW interview,
thanks! I have no idea what's in the interview (not being able to
stand listening to myself), but I hope a few of my favorite birdly
encounters made it into the final edition. I wanted especially to
share my beloved Fill with all of you, who I think can best appreciate
how wonderful it is to go to that unique place (doesn't have to be the
Fill) and see whatever nature sends us. So I ask you also to post a
story today about that one place that lives in your memory because of
the nature you encountered there.
