Tweeters,

My family and I hiked to the top of Central Peak (top of Sqauwk Mt.) on Sunday in beautiful weather. Nothing unusual but we did have first of the year (for us anyway) Pacific-Slope Flycatcher, Black-throated Gray Warbler, Black-headed Grosbeak, and Wilson's Warbler. A Hairy Woodpecker was calling as it entered and exited it's nest hole. I also viewed a Winter Wrens nest just inside a fallen tree's roots. I took only a quick peek because the parents were less than pleased with me. Pretty sassy for such a small brown bird! Lovely 6 mile round trip hike although the top was dissapointing. Not much of a view except for that of a radio tower. Nice to hear the birds singing though.

Cheers,
