Hi all?
?
First,? a big thank you to SANDY DANIELS, YBR record-holder from Greater-Auburn, for updating the YardBirdRace Records page which can be found at

?
?
Meanwhile, LINDA PHILLIPS is putting Kenmore on the YBR map in big letters with 48 including MACGILLIVRAY?S, TOWNSEND?S & BLACK-THROATED GRAY WARBLERS.? There is no previous YBR record in Kenmore.
?
JOHN TUBBS is on pace to threaten the Snoqualmie-overall with 42 against a record of 68, with MOUNTAIN CHICKADEE & GREAT HORNED OWL among others.?
?
Although trying to beat 87 in Residential Seattle isn?t for the faint of heart, MARISSA BENEVENTE & JIM FLYNN are cautiously optimistic at 48 including HUTTON?S VIREO & HAMMOND?S FLYCATCHER.
?
In Licton Springs, JOSH HAYES? has 28 including two warblers, & a PURPLE FINCH.
?
In Anacortes, KRISTI HEIN & KEVIN BAZEWICK have 35 with CALIFORNIA QUAIL & (hooray) a VIOLET GREEN SWALLOW considering a YardNestBox.
?
?
Speaking of which:
?
Does Violet-green Swallow near you need a nest box?? Then enter the YardBirdRace!
?
Have you seen tell tale signs of hard-up Violet-green Swallows in your neighborhood?such as two birds spending time investigating air-conditioning ducts?? If you have a decent site (sight or cite won?t do, sorry!)? for a nest-box here?s how to get a free box in a hurry.? Join the YardBirdRace with the list you have so far.? Even if you?ve barely been paying attention, it could be a record-setting list for your neighborhood or town (I?m assuming you don?t live in Battleground).? Enter the YBR and with your entry describe the nest box site in a few words and ask for your 2009 YBR prize early:? a Violet-green Swallow nest box from Country Culture of Medford OR.? (any 2009 Racer may do this now, if you think you have a potential site).? I?ll try to get it in the mail in one business day.? Limit 6 (but don?t worry, I don?t expect many folks taking me up on this.)
?
If you?re lucky enough to live in Tree Swallow habitat, these boxes will work for them also.
