A more expensive option but it might work (though you should try
before you buy) would be a Canon IS (image stablized) binocular used
with one hand (presuming only one shoulder is out of action). The
Canon IS 10x30 would do the job for under $400.

Otherwise I have a Manfrotto 679B monopod with a Manfrotto 234RC tilt
head (with quick release) for small spotter scopes. Not light but
very solid and tall too. Works well for me. Perhaps $90 for the whole
set up. Plus binocular adaptor. Eagle Optics and Amazon have them
online too.
