Subject: [Tweeters] Red crossbills in Medina park

Hi,

No crossbills for me at Medina Park tonight BUT Great Blue Herons have hatched, yippee! I was leaving the restrooms and was just at the right auditory spot to think to myself I hear baby herons clattering for fish and sure enough from that vantage point I could see movement in the nest that is in the first opening on the right side from the crown of the tallest douglas fir. The parent was standing on the nest and I could see downy chicks move. I am so stoked to have young herons to show to my Eastside Audubon Birdathon trip next Sunday rather than having to look for beak or tail poking from the nest while incubation takes place. The eagles had better stay away...

Bonus was a large flock of warblers moving through both Audubon's and Myrtle Yellow-rumped Warblers plus at least two Nashville Warblers in the bunch.
