There was a Semipalmated Sandpiper in a flock of Western Sandpipers at Bottle Beach this afternoon (5/09/09) at high tide. It was near the northeastern viewing area. Unfortunately, all the other birders that were there for the incoming tide had already left. The flock kept flushing and returning, and I was able to refind it several times until two dogs came running down the beach and repeatedly chased the shorebirds. Most of the birds returned, but I couldn't find the Semipalmated again.
