Tom Mansfield and I birded Chelan County on Friday covering areas near the Camas Burn, Plain, Icicle Creek, Mission Creek, Cashmere STP, Confluence Park. And On Sunday we again covered parts of Chelan Co. up Swakane Creek, and the small lakes north of Manson. Highlights included 1 Least Sandpiper at Confluence Park--water was high. 1 Lewis's Woodpecker at Cashmere STP. Camas Burn was fairly birdy with Ruffed Grouse, Dusky Flycatchers, Nashville Warblers. Plain had Western Meadowlarks, and Golden-crowned Sparrows. Swakane Creek had Bullock's Oriole and Chukars calling. Wapato Lake had 1 Virginia Rail, which is tough in Chelan Co. Two Caspian Terns were along the Columbia river in Chelan Co. as we were heading back south towards Wenatchee.

On Sat. we covered Douglas Co. with a little western parts of Lincoln Co. Indian Camp (western slope of Badger Mt.) was crawling with birds such as Goldene-crowned Sparrows, Yellow Warbler, Ruffed Grouse, Calliope Hummingbirds, Vaux's Swifts, Hermit Thrush, Red-naped Sapsucker, House Wrens. Jameson Lake (south end) had 1 Barrow's Goldeneye, 1 pair of Yellow-headed Blackbirds, Cinnamon Teal. St. Andrew ponds had Avocets, Wilson's Phalaropes, Long-billed Dowitcher.

Swanson Lakes in Lincoln Co. had Avocets, 1 Least Sandpiper. South of Swanson Lakes was a Prairie Falcon which about hit us on our heads from the backside, Black Tern, nesting Canvasbacks, Blue-winged Teal. At Telford burn we had a pair of Gray Flycatchers and all 3 nuthatches. At Lincoln the White-throated Swifts were on the cliff face.
