Mike and I birded the delta Sat. am then headed north to Wooden rd. and L.
Mon. Dam area. Birds of note:
WWRdelta -
CLARK'S GREBE- 1
Western Grebe - 86
Forster's Tern - several
Semipalmated Plover - 1
Long-billed Dowitcher - 4
American Avocet - 44
Least Sandpiper - 3
Killdeer - 2
Great Egret - 3
Cinnamon Teal - 9
Ruddy Duck - 60+
Redhead - 17
Many Caspian Terns, gulls, a few pelicans

Wallula Cemetery -
GOLDEN-CROWNED SPARROW - 1 adult
Eurasian Collared-Dove - 2 (probably breeding)

Wooden Rd. -
Bullock's Oriole and Western Kingbirds harassing a Great Horned Owl.
Chipping Sparrow - many migrating
only 1 YRump and 1 OC Warbler there
Wooden Rd. - heading east -
GRAY FLYCATCHER- two in the dried wild sunflowers along the road - nice!
This is an area of last years burned over CRP.

Lower Monumental Dam -
Am. White Pelicans - 12
VARIED THRUSH- 1 in bushes near restrooms
Townsend's Solitaire - one flycatching from cliffs
Rock Wren - 1 noisy bird
Bullock's Oriole - a pair nest building
One Osprey continually calling near nest platform - no mate???

Sat along Wooden Road until 10 pm listening for Poorwill - no luck. Just GH
Owl and coyotes and a baby Rattlesnake.
Had one Short-eared Owl on Eureka N. road on the way home - and lots of
Kangaroo Rats near the sand dunes.

Led an Audubon Field Trip through the Fort Walla Walla Natural Area
yesterday evening - and the Yellow-breasted Chats were very vocal.

Our yard is full of Evening Grosbeaks, Lazuli Buntings, Cassin's Finches,
Red-wings along with one male Tricolored, and the usual finches and
sparrows.
