Subject: [Tweeters] Unsubscribing from TWEETERS, or changing your email

I don't actually think this will help as this is a technically rather
naive group.

Then again if you save this email for the future you'll know how to
do it.

THREE points.

1. When a mailing list sends you a WELCOME message it also tells you
how to unsubscribe too. KEEP THAT MAIL! Make a folder and save it
away for that day you want out.

But you didn't do that so ...

2. Most mailing lists put unsubscribe info in the FULL HEADERS so you
can leave the list just by emailing a message to a robot. This one
does. Looks for a command like "Show Headers" in your email program.
And you will see lots of stuff including:

List-Unsubscribe: <http://mailman2.u.washington.edu/mailman/
listinfo/tweeters>, <mailto:tweeters-
request at mailman2.u.washington.edu?subject=unsubscribe>

Then click the second link and send the email. You wont even need to
remember you password.

But you can't find a "Show Headers" command ...

3. Do it by hand ... just send an email to mailing list REQUEST address

tweeters-request at mailman2.u.washington.edu

with the subject

unsubscribe

And then you're done.

Easy. No need to bug any humans to do this. Not least the hundreds of
Tweeters who would rather be reading a report of a BACHMAN'S WARBLER
down at The Fill.

FYI, there other info in the HEADERS like a pointer to the
archive ... so you can see messages you deleted too ...

List-Archive: <https://mailman2.u.washington.edu/mailman/private/
tweeters>

Happy Birding.
