I birded by bicycle today up Umptanum Rd. to N. Wenas Rd, down to Selah, then back along Yakima Canyon Rd. Many wonderful looks at bluebirds, meadowlarks, several kinds of swallows, and numerous SAGE THRASHERS singing in sage from mile 5-9 from Ellensburg. WESTERN KINGBIRD allowed a nice look, as did a large flock of CLARK'S NUTCRACKERS. I couldn't see any Lewis's Woodpeckers, but that might have been because the gravel was deep near where they often are and I had to pay close attention to the road. Several TV's and Red-Tailed Hawks soaring almost motionless in the (strong) wind over the descending black-top of N. Wenas Rd.

Several OSPREY all along the Yakima Canyon Rd., close and easy to see, and many birds singing in the rockfall areas that I couldn't find with binoculars but suspect were wrens.
