Finally a nice day for our Bennintgon Lake walk this morning - cancelled
yesterday because of the wind. Only a few migrants going through - Dusky and
Hammond's Flycatcher - and one Least for #202 for our county year list. One
each Nashville, Wilson's and MacGillivray's Warbler and several Warbling and
one Cassin's Vireo. Heard one Black-headed Grosbeak. The orioles and
hummingbirds are back. House Wrens and Yellow Warblers singing with a few
Lazuli Buntings here and there. No Eastern Kingbirds, chats or catbirds yet.
Had through-the-leaves look at the young Saw-whet Owl still in the
cottonwoods on the north side of the lake - so cute! The two young Great
Horned's were begging on the east side of the canal.
Now to get out and feed the horde of Evening Grosbeaks in our yard!!!
