Today while conducting a streaked horned lark survey on the McChord Air Force airfield, Randy Moore saw a male chestnut-collared longspur in breeding plumage. It was observed by me and two contractors participating in the lark survey. When observed, the longspur was loosely associated with a pair of streaked horned larks.

We also observed 2 red-tailed hawks, killdeer with a nest with 4 eggs, many savannah sparrows, western meadowlarks, all the swallows except banks, American crows, European starlings, and a northern harrier.

I'd be curious to find out the sightings of chestnut-collared longspurs in the area. If anyone has any info, send it to me at my email address.
