There was a notable movement of migrant passerines in a flock near the north parking lot of Discovery today. The best find was a CHIPPING SPARROW that was perched in the open at forest edge. I counted at least 22 WARBLING VIREOS and of the slightly-less common migrants, an OLIVE-SIDED FLYCATCHER and singing MACGILLIVRAY'S WARBLER were noted. 6 warbler sp. were in this main flock. Others have noted numbers of RED CROSSBILLS in suburban settings: 20 were near the north parking lot at Discovery, dropping into alders to pick away at catkins.
