At eleven this morning I gave up looking for warblers at Surber grove. As I returned to the east CUH parking lot, a beautiful textbook-plummaged Cooper's Hawk emerged from the grove's trailhead. I think we had been there for the same thing, sort of. It left the grove in stages perching on a couple tall flowering bushes then it swooped southeast and perched for a moment on the chain link fence running roughly north/south on the east side of the field behind the CUH (the Kingbird's old hang out). I last saw the Hawk flying toward the Fill. I decided to stick around and walk a lap around the Fill and ended up spotting an Osprey riding a thermal in effortless circles over the UW baseball field and Slough. I didn't get the warblers I wanted but the Fill always makes me feel like I got what I needed.
