Hello Tweeters,
Since the weather is still good when it last,I decided to looking for
Dragonflies again.I got side tract ,going for Shorebirds on Kennedy Creek in
Mason Co.
Here what I saw:30 Black-bellied Plovers,150 Dunlin, Dowitcher species
8,Purple Finch calling,Black-headed Grosbeak 1.
I drove to Vance Creek,WHERE I had all the females California Darners, but
there where no Dragonflies at all,I checked the edges of the 2 small ponds
what really looking good for Dragonflies, but there was non.
But on the trail I found some nice bunch of birds,so it was not all
disappointing. This are the birds I found on the short trail around the
pond.2 Cedar Waxwing (making out) 6 Am.Robin. Swainson's Thrush 1,Common
Yellowthroad 2 ,Wilson Warblers 3 ,
Yellow -rumped Warblers 3 ,Mac Gillivray's Warbler 1,Scrub Jay 1 .The sun
was out bright,I wonder where all the many Dragonflies I had on this trail.
Next I visit Schauweiler Wetlands, and again there where no Dragonflies the
water was over the road ,but there on all the ponds there was nothing not
even a duck.
But I walked on the Road in to the back ponds, where people was fishing and
got Bass and Trout.Further Thurs the back you could still not enter (the
water is still high) There I found 2 species of Emeralds, what is so
exiting!!!!
I netted the Dragonflies there where Beaverpond Baskettail ( epitheca
canis)The other is the Spiny Baskettail, (epitheca spinigera )
It was a good Day!!!!!
