This morning was heavily overcast, cool and moist. When I got around to looking for yard birds, I was gobsmacked. There were dozens of YELLOW WARBLERS and WILSON'S WARBLERS all over the yard trees and I heard more singing from the neighbors' yards. Never have I seen them in such numbers here.



I also saw at least a dozen WARBLING VIREOS, several WESTERN TANAGERS, ten or more CEDAR WAXWINGS, a WESTERN WOOD PEWEE, two female LAZULI BUNTINGS and two TOWNSEND'S WARBLERS--all new for the year. There were also a couple of probable Orange-crowned Warblers.



The highlight was a common bird, but a lifer for me: a male MACGILLIVRAY'S WARBLER.
