Hello Tweets or do you prefer Tweeters?

I just spent the past week in your extraordinary state and I wanted to say thank you! For the past year I've been reading the Tweeters blog/email post (?) knowing I would be visiting Seattle regularly on bizness. So this past week I took some extra time to explore.

Thus I went to The Fill, Marymoor Park, the Leavenworth Bird Festival and Nisqually. Needless to say being from the East Coast, I racked up a few lifers. But that wasn't the point.

The point was you all have spectacular park/nature refuges that are nearby that I hope you never take for granted. The Fill needs a new name, it is gorgeous and the animals love it. You all know otters are there, right? Marymoor has a stunning layout. Ballparks, a dogwalk sans leash and then a quiet boardwalk area for the birders. Could you transport this to NYC?

And then the Leavenworth Bird Festival, to mimic Mary who posted earlier, it's above fantastic. If you haven't gone, go! Everyone is so lovely and the birds, well we love them too. There are so many opportunities and various treks that there is something for everyone. But if you can't make the festival, go anyway it truely is a birders paradise.

My count for the week was 30 lifers, if you'd like to know the list grab me offline. But for a little perspective I was so excited about seeing a Stellar's Jay though I know they can be a nuisance bird at feeders. It's the same way we feel about Blue Jays in the east but I do hope you all are able to visit the East Coast and have as great as an experience as I had in your wonderful state.

Happy birding!
