I also watched a swallow at the Greenlake kids pool a couple of years ago, catching a feather, flying up, letting it go, circling around to catch it again and repeating.

That reminds me of watching two Violet-green Swallows playing catch with a downy feather. One would take it up a ways and drop it; and the other would catch it and do the same. That happened a few times before they got bored. That was at Point Defiance in Tacoma.
