Tweets,
Friday morning I checked a few spots west of Tenino along Old Hwy 99. In the
scotch broom along Melville St I heard up to three "singing" WILLOW
FLYCATCHERS and a distant LAZULI BUNTING (I expect more of both species will
be showing up.) At the bridge across Scatter Creek on Equus Lane (between
Tilley and Gibson) a WESTERN WOOD PEWEE was "singing," and another north of
the fields on Gibson Rd. Also at Equus was a young BULLOCK'S ORIOLE. The
mature fir trees here reliably hold orioles, at least in latter half of May.
These are all (for me) FOS birds, except Monday I came across an
out-of-place migrating female bunting east of Tenino. A lot more quiet now
after the "peak" of migration the week of May 10. Good birding!
