Subject: [Tweeters] Brewer's Sparrow in Brier (Snohomish Co.)

Hello Tweeters,
About 20 minutes ago, I had a BREWER'S SPARROW vocalizing from some low
shrubbery in my neighbor's yard. With microphone in hand I flung myself out
the door in time to record a short clip of the bird's song before it flew
off to the northwest and out of sight. The sparrow was extremely active and
only stayed around for a few minutes.

If anyone would like to hear the recording, please e-mail me.

Sorry for not reporting this earlier, but for several days last week a DUSKY
FLYCATCHER was present in my back yard. On May 19th I finally managed good
views of the bird as it whitted while insect hunting on the edge of a patch
of woodland directly behind my house. The flycatcher showed a distinctly
longer tail and shorter primary projection than two other Hammond's
Flycatchers (which were giving their much different 'pip' call) that were
also in the immediate area the same morning.

I was able to record the Empid and the following spectrogram compares
another clip of Dusky Flycatcher calls to my recording:

I would also be happy to send out my DUFL clip to any who are interested.

Happy birding,
