Subject: [Tweeters] Any Purple Martins?

Kevin, Penny, et al.,

I was just down to the Kenmore Logboom Park this morning and noted three
pairs of Purple Martins, one at (or in in the case of two of the females)
the remaining three gourds. There were also two pairs of Tree Swallows
sitting disconsolately on a crossbar below the gourds. The martins appear to
be enforcing their hegemony of the site once more.

Maybe we can organize a work party to fix the gourds sometime soon. Brien
Meilleur and I put four of them up three years ago (almost fell out of our
tippy canoe in the process).

I think Penny intended her response to go to the list but just
replied to me. So I'll respond then you'll see her comment below.

Yeap, I only saw one leave the lower of the gourds and it looked more
like an larger all dark PURMAR than a Tree Swallow. But it was a tail
first glimps. And having already see the other Martins I thought I
had my eye in. Maybe not :-)

The upper gourd certainly has Tree Swallows in it.
