Hello Tweeties!

Who ever it was who said Redwing Blackbirds would take over a feeder
was right! We don't really mind. We love those flashy birds.

My question: Do female redwings have a trace of color on their
wings? The other day I saw what looked like a female with pale
yellowish-orange patches on its wings. Or could it actually be a
fledgling/immature male already?

Since I've had the opportunity to observe redwings up close and
personal I've come to realize they have quite the "vocabulary". Their
vocalizations are almost as varied as the Great Tailed Grackles I got
to observe in Bakersfield last month.
They aren't nearly as loud as their grackle kin, but the variety of
their sounds is quite amazing. I've sometimes heard what I thought
was a new visitor to the feeder, and when I've gone to look, it was a
redwing!
