After a fabulous hike along the Dungeness River trail (on the way to Marmot Pass) we saw a displaying Blue Grouse (Pacific Sooty) along FS road 2880. This road is approximately 2000 feet above sea level and is reached from the Palo Alto road just before Sequim. Lovely bird in beautiful alternate plumage. The bird was pretty wary and flushed into a tree just off of the road. I was only able to take one horrible picture of it before it flew down the hillside and dissapeared.
