Hello all,
Yesterday evening we checked the overlook pond just east of Wallula junction
where we found a Willet foraging in the mud. The millet field on Northshore
Dr. is almost dried up but there was a single White-faced Ibis which flew
off after a few minutes. Three drake Blue-winged Teal along with the
Cinnamons was nice. There are 9 American Avocets sitting on nest but with
the water level dropping they won't have a chance.
There were two Ibis at the delta along with 53 American Avocets and a
Bonaparte's Gull. Lots of Caspian and one Forster's Tern in the setting
sun. Common Nighthawks were migrating north overhead.
Rewarding spur-of-the-moment trip - three county year birds put us to 215.
Later, MerryLynn
