Hi Tweeters,

Today, 9 of us, led by Jim Pruske and Sue Danver,?went on a Black Hills Audubon field trip into Thurston County's Capital Forest.? We mostly birded at the higher elevations, totalling just under 50 species for the day.? Highlights include HERMIT WARBLERS at several locations, with very good views walking up the road between the gate and Capital Peak.? Other birds included HAMMOND'S, OLIVE-SIDED, WILLOW, & PACIFIC-SLOPE FLYCATCHERS; ORANGE-CROWNED, WILSON'S, BLACK-THROATED GRAY, YELLOW-RUMPED, & TOWNSEND'S WARBLERS; 10+ TURKEY VULTURES; N. HARRIER (worn appearance, flying over Capital Peak); N. PYGMY OWL; WESTERN TANAGER; EVENING GROSBEAK; BLACK-HEADED GROSBEAK; BAND-TAILED PIGEON; SWAINSON'S & VARIED THRUSHES; GRAY JAY; RUFOUS HUMMINGBIRD; and SOOTY GROUSE.

Good birding,
