Hello All,

This morning with a slight southwest breeze blowing MerryLynn and I headed
out into a cloudless morning to bird the Walla Walla River delta. The pool
depth of Lake Wallula was coming up and might cover the mud flats of the
delta, so we headed right to the delta to get a ring side seat before the
delta was lost to high pool conditions. It was a good morning! Birds were
numorus and diversity was good. Species of note are as follows:

White-faced Ibis.........3 adults
Franklin's Gull.............3 adults
Bonapartes Gull..........1 sub-ad.
Semipalmated Plover...2 birds
Western Sandpiper......1 bird
Blue Winged Teal.........2 males
Wilson's Phalarope.......1 pair
Great Egret...................1 ad.
Caspian Tern.................17 birds
Eastern Kingbird............3 ad.
Tree Swallow.................1 pair ( first confirmed nest at the WWRdelta)
Blue-winged X Cinnamon Teal hybrid....1 ad. male....many photos taken. First
time we have ever seen this mix of genes. This bird had a Cinnamon Teal body
and a Blue-winged Teal's head.
Redhead........................2 ad. males
Osprey...........................1 ad.
Green-winged X Cinnamon Teal Hybrid....1 ad. male in company with a "normal"
plumaged male Green-winged Teal. This bird was larger than its fellow and
very rust red across the throat, belly onto vent. several photos taken.
