Just sitting at my computer, doing work on a Saturday, I noticed a Merlin as
it flew in and landed on the tippy top of a fir outside my window. I grabbed
my camera and put on a telephoto lens but not in time. So often I've seen
Merlins do that very thing - a quick stop, an apparent scan of the
territory, and departure. They must cover a lot of ground most days.
