I'm not exactly local, but I am a frequent visitor to Theler Wetlands
and have made the acquaintance of several local residents, including one
man who is very involved and interested in the proceedings. I sent him
an email and here is an edited version of his reply.

Yes, the Tweet is fairly accurate. The grant application for funds to
study and design tidal flow back onto the Johnson Farm that chose four
(of six) options to entirely remove the Union River waterfront portion
of the Theler Trail System has been revised. Also, that the community
will have knowledge of, and input toward, the final project...if it is
funded at all, has been included in the 18 month process.

I am in the process...today or tomorrow, of creating an informational
"flyer" that I will send out to you and a few others. Please, do, pass
it along. I know that public input on this matter will be considered,
will matter, and now is the time to begin speaking of our concerns.

You can pass on to folks that this application can be downloaded from
it's "sponsoring agency" the Hood Canal Coordinating Council (HCCC) in
Poulsbo.

I intend to forward to a list of folks, including you, the e-mail
addresses of ALL entities involved today or tomorrow, as time permits.
I believe one short e-mail to all addressees will help us ensure the
Union Riverfront portion of the trails are retained in the final project.

End Message.

Here is the URL of the HCCC

Here is the URL for the project that involves Theler:

Perhaps we can get something that is good for the salmon and the birds
(and us).
