Subject: [Tweeters] Black-tailed Gull seems harder to approach!

Hi Tweeters,

Two boat trips to the log booms this weekend proved difficult for close easy
viewing of our Black-tailed Gull. On Saturday 11/7 between 4 and 5pm, I was
able to get within 50 feet of the BTG. Unfortunately the weather was
uncooperative, and all the gulls were flighty and easily flushed. On Sunday
11/8, between 3:45p and 5pm, I was not able to find our target. The weather
on Sunday was very nice, and the Bonaparte?s, California?s, Mew?s, and
Thayer?s provided great views. I plan to be available late Tuesday
afternoon, Wednesday afternoon and Thursday. If you?re scoping from the
shore, give me a wave and I?ll pick you up from the beach. Charlie Wright
speculated the Black-tailed Gull might move on with California Gulls in
November? I?ve had success 12 out of 15 voyages getting close views, but
suspect our friend is behaving differently. Have a great week!

Good birding,
