Hi Tweeters,

I managed to squeeze in some birding at the mouth of the Cedar today and heard a single syllable warbler chip note making me suspect the Palm Warbler has returned for another year. Try as I might I could not track down the originator of the chip note. I heard it near the smoking area for the Boeing workers before you get to the bathrooms at the lake end of the trail. I hope someone can find this little skulker so I can count it for sure!

Other nice finds included an Eared Grebe with the fluffy hind end, more delicate bill and overall darker on the neck and head then the Horned. I walked the trail after scoping Lk Wa. and on my return to the Lk Washington overlook area I found a Spotted Sandpiper, and a dark mantled possible pure Western Gull but I had ditched the scope by then--it could be one of those 8-9 tenths hybrids. A few Canvassbacks were in the cove on the the other side of the airport. I counted 37 Dunlin flying around and roosting on the logs. There were a lot more Double-crested Cormorants than I remember in years past roosting on the logs and fishing. I did not locate the Greater white-fronted Goose flock that usually winters here.
