Hi Tweets

Yesterday (Wednesday, 11/11) , I spent a few hours birding in
Thurston Co. First , I stopped at the pumpkin fields across from
Nisqually NWR. After about 30 minutes of searching, the male
YELLOW-HEADED BLACKBIRD popped out right as others have reported.

Outside Rochester, after a bit of searching I tracked down Thurston
Co EURASIAN COLLARED-DOVES. About 18 of them! They were hanging out
in a mixed flock along SR 12, a little se of Rochester, along a set
of grain silos on the north side of the road. I wrote down the name
of the farm in my notebook, but alas, cannot read the scrawl sorry!

Last stop was Capitol Lake in Olympia. Nice collection of ducks
there, including many American Wigeons, at least one EURASIAN WIGEON,
several CANVASBACKS, and others. About 100 DUNLIN were sitting on
logs along the north edge of the lake, and several BONAPARTES GULLS
were fluttering around. The pair of MUTE SWANS, origins unknown, were
still present along the west side of the lake.

A good afternoon of birding,
