I found a Pacific Golden Plover today on Boe Rd, off of Marine Drive just
south of Stanwood. (Noticeably smaller than nearby Black-bellied Plovers;
more petite head and bill; pale yellow/golden background color to head,
neck, upper breast; axillaries dull gray/brown like underwing rather than
black.) It was with a flock of maybe 100 Black-bellied Plovers and a few
Killdeer and Dunlin. The birds were in a muddy cornfield north of the road,
maybe 1/4 mile from the west end of the road. This was about 11:15 am. While
I was watching the bird Steve Aslanian and Gail drove up and we all watched
it for perhaps 10-15 minutes before the birds started swirling around and we
lost it.
