Today was my first swan survey in south Snohomish/North King counties
(Snoqualmie Valley south to Cherry Valley site). About 500 swans are in the
area and at least 325 snow geese. Most are trumpeters in the Crescent
Lake/Duvall area, more are tundra swans in the Snohomish Valley near
Snohomish. I did see 20UK off Tualco Road. He is now in his 3rd year and
hopefully will find a mate this winter.
If you are out and about and see swans in the Everett south to Kent
areas please let me know. Any collar sightings are most welcome as are
photos. Also, there are a few swan mortalities already for the season. If
you see a dead or injured swan in Whatcom or Skagit counties please call the

And if anyone is out at the Bob Heirman Park in the next few days, please
keep your eyes out for the 2 swans that appear to be ill on Shadow Lake.
Also, there are LOTS of ducks on Shadow Lake as well as raptors hunting -
bald eagle, red tailed hawk, rough legged hawk, norther harrier female, and
what may have been a peregrine falcon zooming through (only caught a glimpse
that confirmed a falcon going at high speed).
