Happy day after Thanksgiving everyone,
The sun beckoned me outdoors this morning. My usual walk through the neighborhood didn't yield as many birds as I was expecting, none the less it was a good morning.
I was near where 73rd Ave crosses Swamp Creek in Kenmore when I got three short views of what I think was a Townsend's Solitaire. My first sight of it was perched on top of a snag. It was too far away to get much detail but the silhouette was similar to a robin. I was looking face on to the bird. Overall coloring was gray. It had an eye ring when it flew off the snag it did not fly in a straight line but darted and twisted as it flew. Its wings were more pointed than round. As it flew I saw white or light tail feathers. About 10 minutes later I believe I saw the bird again it was perched on top of an evergreen tree this time. I only had a few seconds to study it before another larger bird ( flicker?) flew by and spooked it. It appeared to have just dropped down into the tree but I could not relocate it.
then I started bush wacking trying to get conclusive looks but the only sight I could get was two birds darting through the undergrowth and then vanishing.Is it possible for Townsend's Solitaire to be in Kenmore? (I have only seen them in E. WA. and Montana) any suggestions would be welcome.
