Hi Tweeters,

I met Jordan Gunn on the fishing pier at Edmonds this morning, then
both of us went to Water Street looking for the Cassin's Auklet. We
did not see it. Off Water St. there was only one alcid, a fly-by Rhino Auklet.

Jordan accessed Twetters e-mails on his i-phone and said a possible
Arctic Loon at been seen yesterday from the same spot. Within two
minutes he spotted a loon at quite a distance that showed quite a lot
of white on the sides. We got fairly decent views of it as it
surfaced after repeated dives. I was able to get two poor photos of
it which show it was a winter-plumaged Red-throated Loon. The photos
are in the new photos folder on my website. Needless to say, all
Arctic Loons have extensive white on their sides but not all loons
with extensive white on the sides are Arctic Loons.
