Hello Tweets,

On Friday, my mother and I went to Nisqually to see what was about. Since
the removal of the outer dike, it is a very different and wetter place. The
highlights were walking the new trail into the middle of the refuge, and
from that trail, watching a SHORT-EARED OWL flying back and forth over the
fields. Other species seen include:

Pied-billed Grebe, Great Blue Heron, Snow Goose (4), Canada Goose, incl.
Cackling, Northern Pintail, American Wigeon, Northern Shoveler, Green-winged
Teal, Ring-necked Duck, Northern Harrier (8!), Red-tailed Hawk (15!),
Northern Shrike, Bald Eagle, Peregrine Falcon, American Kestrel, Yellowlegs
(probably Greater), Dunlin, Golden-crowned Kinglet, and Yellow-rumped
Warbler.
