hello everyone,

today's mystery bird is deceivingly easy to identify, so be careful!

the most recently demystified mystery bird was a Hooded Crow, Corvus cornix, courtesy of me and a beautiful digital camera that was given to me two years ago by one of my loyal readers;

October is my favorite month of the year. why? because october is DOnorsChoose month where the public can help schools educate kids. Like last year, I chose financially impoverished science classrooms to help, but i've added a couple new features: first, i am asking YOU to help me choose projects to fund this year; second, i am willing to do a crazy stunt to inspire your donations; and third, i am working behind-the-scenes to get a few PRIZES to encourage you to give even five dollars to help poor kids get a chance in this life;

last but not least, i published a public thank-you to everyone who supported my bid to go to antarctica as official "blogger" .. basically, YOU made it worth it;
