Subject: [Tweeters] Turkey Vultures at Kennedy Creek

After reading Mary H.'s account of Turkey Vultures moving south over her
home in Mason County I quickly drove out to Kennedy Creek estuary. I
had seen migrating vultures there on 28 September and I was intrigued by
the possibility of seeing the birds Mary had seen earlier today. This
seemed plausible because the birds I saw on 28 September were flying due
south on a line from Mary's neck of the woods. I arrived at 11:27 and
began scanning the ridges and overhead. There was no action until 11:44
when vultures began passing overhead. I stayed until 12:19 and in that
time counted 77 Turkey Vultures flying from north to south, some passing
directly overhead but most passing over Burns Point (as was the case on
28 September, suggesting the possibility that this is a pathway
regularly used by vultures that migrate down the west side of Puget
Sound).

Thanks, Mary for posting so quickly.
