Hello Tweeters,
Again I birdied 3 days in Eastern Washington ,concentrated only to few
area.It was quite change on the amount of birds there where. The masses of
Yellow rumped Warblers in every park where mostly moved on,but there still
where other birds around.
The most birds where Robin's and Hermit Thrushes.Interesting there where
male and female Varied Thrushes in the Creek in Wastucna,This was a first
for me there, also there where Hutton's and Warbling Vireos, lot's of
White-crowned and few Golden -crowned Sparrows. The best birdying was again
on the BENGE -Washtucna Road which I took twice in the late afternoon from
5.00 PM to 7.00 PM.
Here are the birds I found Ferruginous Hawk 1 bird,Red-tailed Hawks 3 birds,
Marsh Hawk adult male 1 bird,also there where 2 A.Kestrel.Meadowlarks A big
group of 50 flying up from the grassy fields to higher grounds.A big group
of Golden-crowned Sparrows 35 birds in a bush on the hill. Also on the Creek
what runs close to the road where there is a view, there where 16 Mallard
Ducks with 1 male Blue-winged Teal.
A big group of House Fiches 75 sitting on wires. And 1 Great -horned Owl on a
Pole.
On my way home I checked the Hutton's Rest stop, and all the Shorebirds where
gone ,also the County Line Pond where empty.
5 Miles East of Royal City There where 125 SANDHILL CRANES flying over
Highway 26 direction north on the corner of the Golf course and the sign to
Ephrata. This was not expected.I got of my car and since there was slow
flying,I really had time to count them
In Vantage it got extreme windy at the Gingko Park, there where no birds, but
I went down below where people put there boat in to the water, close to the
big rocks and the water I found a group of 25 Chukar,,and on the State
Bouncy Park Sign, there sitting 1 Say's Phoebe. This species been breeding on
top of the building every year. It was a good trip nothing super rare but
always a surprise bird you been not seeing for years

Cheers Ruth Sullivan
