Tweeters,

It was in the low 40s when Sharon Cormier-Aagard and I started our short
hike from Snoqualmie Point. But, it was clear--we could see a blanket of
fog covering North Bend, Snoqualmie and points west.

This trail incorporates both new and older second growth, plus some very
recent recovering clear-cuts (and a new one in progress), thus offering
several habitats. Still enough mature trees to offer cones, and we saw
several flocks of 5 - 8 Red Crossbills. Other notables included
Golden-crowned and White-crowned Sparrows, both kinglets, distant Vaux's
Swift, calling Varied Thrush and Clark's Nutcracker, a fly-by Townsend's
Solitaire, and solo visits by Pacific-slope Flycatcher, Townsend's and
Black-throated Grey Warblers and a Hutton's Vireo. Raptors included
Red-tailed and Cooper's Hawks and a Northern Harrier.

Nice way to start October, in the sun. Trip list follows.
