Hi, Tweets

Perhaps turkey vultures are rescheduling the flights like a few other
species. Not too many large counts this season. They seem to be still
passing through so numbers may go up for October. Following are
vultures seen in Washington, Oregon, and British Columbia for September 2009:

02 -- 1 east of the airport near Forks
03 -- 18 in Aberdeen plus 1-2 each day for a week
04 -- 22 east of Ilwaco
05 -- 7 roosting in a snag on Blue Mountain Road
10 -- 1 perched in a tree in Kenmore
20 -- 16+ over Lake City
22 -- 25 flying east to west down the Cedar River near Renton
24 -- 26 heading south over Tenino
26 -- 13 kettling over Juanita Bay park; 1 at Snoqualmie Point Park;
1 over Seattle's Meadowbrook neighborhood; 1 near Rimrock Lake
27 -- 1 over the Nanaimo River estuary, B.C.
28 -- migrating turkey vultures over Wasco County Fairgrounds,
Oregon; 1 on Fir Island
29 -- 20 with attendant ravens in the Stilliguamish Valley

Not a very high count for September which is usually the fall
migration month of note. Maybe more will still be coming.

Thanks to all for their reports - keep looking up!

Cheers, Diann
