Tweeters,
While roaming around Greenlake recently I saw what appeared (at least to me) to be unusual Mallard behavior.
Two males faced off by placing their necks and heads up against each other and then in a show of strength pushed each other around in circles for about ? a minute. The victor then intently watched and chased the weaker bird for about 10 minutes whenever it tried to join the loose group of Mallards.
The day before I watched a pair mate.
Any thoughts on these behaviors? Do I/we miss these because we don't watch Mallards very closely?
