Hello All,

In Nov.1986 MerryLynn and I discovered/located the Brown Shrike at
Whitehouse Pool near the Point Reyes National Seashore. That bird was small
about 6.6 inches long. It was nowhere near the length of a northern shrike.
It was a HY bird with a partial dark mask, vermiculated chest and a reddish
brown cap, nape and mantle. Lower mandible was mostly flesh toned from the
base out. Over the winter of 1986-87 this individual displayed high site
fidelity to the area where we first found it. It molted over that period and
looked different by March 1987.
